About Prayer Time Cathedral

Rev. Ruth Walney, Founder

Prayer Time Cathedral

How It All Began
Prayer Time Cathedral was founded over 60 years ago by the late Rev. Ruth Walney.  The original name was Holiness Unto The Lord Tabernacle, and was first located in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on North Third Street.  Pastor Ruth, as she was known, had a tremendous heart for the sick and the lost.  During her early ministry she would hold healing services in various locations, many people found the healing they had sought from God at her services.  Pastor Ruth always said, "I've never healed anyone, but, I know someone who can."  She was always pointing the glory to God, who gave the healing.  Pastor Ruth was a reluctant preacher, she had always just wanted to pray for the sick - but her heart was also for the lost souls so she studied and learned the Word of God and became an excellent teacher of the Word, leading many souls to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  She always felt this was her top priority, as she was so fond of saying, "You can go to heaven with a sick body, but you can't go with a sick soul."  In 2001, after nearly 50 years of service, Pastor Walney went home to be with the Lord she served so well.

The current building, Prayer Time Cathedral,  was completed in 1982.  Much of the work on the structure was done by the men of the church.  Almost ten years ahead of schedule Prayer Time Cathedral is a debt-free church.

Today, Prayer Time Cathedral is Pastored by the Rev. Robert M. Walney, husband of our late founder. Emerson Williams, Jr. is our Assistant Pastor. While healing of the body and soul is still an integral part of the ministry, Pastor Bob has a unique gift and ability to expound the Word of God.  His ministry is one of in-depth Bible teaching as led by the Holy Spirit.

  Prayer Time Cathedral:
Proud of our past, certain of our future.

We Believe:

1. Divine Inspiration of Scripture:

rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
      2 Timothy 3:16

2.  Creation of the World, man and all living things was by God.
    See Genesis 1 and 2.

3.  Heaven

we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven,
not built by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1; See also

4.  Hell
"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the
soul.  Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul
and body in hell."  Matthew 10:28. See also Matthew 11:23
     Matthew 18:9; Luke 16:23

5.  Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ
"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about:  His mother

Holy Spirit."  Matthew 1:18-20; See also Luke 1:26-35

8.  Salvation is through faith in Christ alone.

11. Imminent Return of Jesus
"For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a
loud command, with the voice of the arch-angel and with
the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise
first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be
caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord
in the air." I Thessalonians 4:16,17
